For our Sourcing & Purchasing team in Hanover we are looking for a motivated


Project Buyer –

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS / m/f)


The Project Buyer is dedicated to plan and execute Sourcing & Purchasing related actions in projects (new development project or cost reduction projects). As such, this function is responsible for timely start of production (from the Sourcing & Purchasing perspective) and successful achievement of target costs, quality and delivery objectives of projects.  The projects will be part of the Product Line “Driver Assistance and Automated Systems”. This means in detail:


Key Accountabilities


  • Assess sourcing needs with project leader (determine in detail relevant sourcing needs, material requirements, adequate technologies and allocate in detail target costs and expected quality)
  • Participate in strategy creation for Electromagnetically Assemblies commodity and “Driver Assistance and Automated Systems”
  • Keep market watch to follow strategy, innovations and opportunities on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) 
  • Market research and supplier evaluation
  • Select suppliers based on commodity and/or project requirements and conduct negotiations
  • Negotiate needed contracts (Project Agreements, Development Agreement, Non-Disclosure Agreements…) and other project related issues
  • Execute and evaluate requests for quotation addressed to suppliers
  • Choose preferred development partners together with other functions within Sourcing & Purchasing
  • Schedule and coordinate the prototyping of tools and product samples
  • Perform total cost analysis (samples, development, tools and proto-tools), prepare basis for Business Case for decision during the project execution phase
  • Ensure all related CQP phases execution and closure on time
  • Achieve target cost of components and tools at Start of Production (SOP)
  • Comply with WABCO as well as Sourcing & Purchasing rules and policies
  • Participate in supplier panel optimization
  • Prepare, maintain and report a consolidated view of projects from the Sourcing & Purchasing perspective

Skills & Experience


  • Degree in Engineering or other technical qualification
  • Experience in sourcing and purchasing with minimum 3 years and optional quality or engineering
  • Experience with projects in the area of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
  • Good technical knowledge in multi technologies like electronics or electro mechanics
  • Very good English level required plus one other language (German is a plus)
  • Analytical thinking, result orientation and problem solving (able to manage problem solving tools)
  • Good communication skills in English (written and verbal) and assertiveness
  • Experience in complex negotiations with multinational suppliers
  • Willingness to travel
